If you think it might be broken

If a watch is placed near a magnetic object (such as a cell phone or magnet), it will instantly become magnetized. If the time suddenly becomes incorrect without being dropped, the first thing to consider is that the watch has become magnetized. Quartz watches will start working again if they are removed from the magnetic object, but if the time stopped during contact with the object, you will need to manually reset it.
Demagnetization can be done at your local watch shop, so we recommend having it checked.
If your watch has started to lose time slowly over the course of a year or two, it may be that the oil inside has run out (if it is mechanical). Of course, there may be other causes, so we recommend an early overhaul (disassembly and cleaning).

If you suspect that your watch is not working properly, the best thing to do is to bring it to the watch shop where you purchased it. No matter how skilled a watch technician is, they won't be able to tell you the cause of the problem unless they can actually see the mechanism.
Some people take their watch apart, thinking, "I wonder if I can fix it myself?", but unless you're very confident in your skills, we recommend taking it straight to your nearest watch shop.
