In 1898, an ambitious 20-year-old left his father's job at the Black Eagle Tea Store in London and stepped into Cardiff Central station.

When he first started his business in Cardiff, Maurice A. Laporte probably had no idea that the business he brought to the city would grow into a watch manufacturer known worldwide, with its products grace homes all over the world.
